Taking the tube

Article Abstract:

It is extremely important for nurses to take the correct precautions when inserting a nasal feeding tube into a patient. A tube can be incorrectly inserted into the respiratory tract, leading to the patient suffering sever coughing, gagging or showing signs of difficulty when breathing. Several methods can be used to check the correct insertion of a nasogastric tube, with the most effective being an X-ray, which clearly indicates where the tube has been inserted.

On call for Turkey's injured

Article Abstract:

The wide range of injuries suffered by victims of the August 1999 Turkish earthquake meant nurses had to employ many different techniques while also trying to overcome the language barrier.
