Article Abstract:

The RCN congress provides an opportunity for nurses to exchange ideas and revive their commitment to nursing. It is also an opportunity to hear how th profession is moving forward. Delegates discuss the agenda well in advance and the congress generates much press attention. There is a growing fringe programme, which has evolved through the commitment of nurses, providing open forum for presentations and study opportunities. Many resolutions at the congress become part of the RCN Council's programme for the following year.

Relieving anxiety with therapeutic touch

Article Abstract:

British nurses and health visitors are using therapeutic touch more and more. In nine out of 10 cases, therapeutic touch eliminated tension headaches. Therapeutic touch reduced pain by an average of 70% over four hours. This was twice as effective as placebo touch.
