Dietary counselling effectively improves lipid levels in patients with endogenous hypertrigylceridemia: emphasis on weight reduction and alcohol limitation

Article Abstract:

Dietary therapy can bring significant improvements in the serum lipid profiles of patients with endogenous hypertriglyceridemia. However, 12 weeks of dietary therapy led to normal lipid levels in only a minority of the patients studied. In most cases, institution of lipid-lowering medication was required. It has been confirmed that energy limitation and weight loss are the most important issues in the dietary management of hypertrigylceridemia.

Relationship between body fat and body mass index: differences between Indonesians and Dutch Caucasians

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates the link between body mass index (BMI) and body fat in Indonesians and Dutch Caucasians in order to assess the authority of the BMI interrupt points for obesity. The results show that Indonesians generally have more body fat than Dutch Caucasians and that the BMI cut-off point for Indonesians should be 27 kg/sq mt, against 30 kg/sq mt for Caucasians.
