Relationship between use of cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins) and osteoporosis in women after menopause

Article Abstract:

More research is needed to determine whether doctors should prescribe statins for postmenopausal women to prevent osteoporosis. Statins are usually used to lower cholesterol, but they can also strengthen bones. However, a study of 93,716 postmenopausal women found no difference in bone fracture rates among the women who took statins and those who did not.

Trichomonas vaginalis As a Cause of Urethritis in Malawian Men

Article Abstract:

The authors undertook to determine the role, if any, of Trichomonas vaginalis on urethritis in men as well as its effect on HIV virus in semen. While T. vaginalis was present in only about one-fifth of the men with symptoms of urethritis, the concentration of HIV RNA was significantly higher in men with trichomonas than without.
