FDA seeks genome-based drug data

Article Abstract:

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants pharmaceutical companies to submit pharmacogenomic data in addition to all other drug data they submit. Pharmacogenomics is the study of human genes that affect how an individual person will metabolize a certain drug. Doctors hope to use this information to offer individualized drug treatment to patients, depending on that patient's genetic profile.
