Response of obstetrics and gynecology program directors to a domestic violence lecture module

Article Abstract:

Most directors of obstetrics and gynecology educational programs will use a domestic violence slide lecture module developed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. This slide set was mailed to 289 directors in 1995 and the directors were surveyed nine months to one year later. Of the 164 who returned the surveys, 72% had used it to educate residents, medical students, doctors and members of the general public. Most of those who used it intended to use it again and two-thirds of the non-users said they would use it in the future.

Use, don't lose, the wind

Article Abstract:

Physicians may not be able to control current influences on the teaching and practice of medicine but may be able to adapt themselves to keep up with the times. Honesty, perseverance, and humor can be used to help the doctor cope with the technologic and sociologic changes in medicine. Doctors can now take advantage of extenders such as nurses or technology to maximize their own productivity. Use of extenders can create more time for teaching and research. Doctors' should continue personal contact with patients, however.
