Rising hospital risk factor: Noise

Article Abstract:

A steady increase in noise levels is observed in the hospitals of the US and around the world with levels during nighttime having risen from 40 decibels to 60 decibels since 1960s, which leads to many risk factors. The increase in noise level leads to an increase in healing time for the patients and lack of concentration leading to errors among the doctors promoting stress in the process for doctors as well as patients.

Nickel-a-beer proposal aims to shore up Calif. ED system

Article Abstract:

A California Senate committee in March 2003 passed a bill that would collect a 5-cent fee per drink from wholesale distributors of distilled spirits, beer, and table wine sold in California. While there are some dealers opposing the issue, the California Senate bill is believed to be the first state to levy a fee on alcohol specifically to pay for alcohol related emergency services.
