Risk factors for maternal morbidity

Article Abstract:

Women who develop eclampsia in the third trimester of pregnancy may have a worse outcome than those who develop eclampsia shortly after birth. This was the conclusion of a study of 399 women with eclampsia. Eclampsia is characterized by convulsions that occur during pregnancy, along with kidney and liver failure, neurologic defects, and even death.

Risk factors for abruptio placentae and eclampsia: analysis of 445 consecutively managed women with severe preeclampsia and eclampsia

Article Abstract:

Protein in the urine and elevated blood pressure do not predict the likelihood of abruptio placentae, preeclampsia, or eclampsia, according to a study of 445 pregnant women. Abruptio placentae, preeclampsia, and eclampsia are serious complications of pregnancy.
