Risk watch

Article Abstract:

A case settled out of the British courts led to an employee of Andover council being given damages worth 200,000 pounds sterling. He suffered a nervous breakdown after being allegedly bullied by his manager. Despite the British media calling for lower damages a roofer has been permitted by the courts to appeal for a higher award for pain and suffering, following the settlement of his accident, as indicated by the recent declaration from the Law Commission. A former teacher who had suffered from exposure to carbon monoxide for 16 years was awarded 562,000 pounds sterling.
