Role of the MEOX2 homeobox gene in neurovascular dysfunction in Alzheimer disease

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that transcriptional profiling of human brain endothelial cells (BECs) defines a subset of genes whose expression is age-independent but is considerably altered in Alzheimer disease, including the homeobox gene MEOX2, a regulator differentiation, is presented. Results reveal that MEOX2 gene might have an important role in neurovascular dysfunction in Alzheimer disease relevant to disease pathology.

Rescuing troubled vessels in Alzheimer disease

Article Abstract:

A demonstration that the cerebovascular alterations of Alzheimer disease are initiated by downregulation of the gene encoding the homeobox gene in Gax, is presented. The downregulation in turn leads to loss of cerebral microvessels, reduction in cerebral blood flow and downregulation of the clearance receptor that mediates amyloid-beta peptide (A beta) efflux from the brain.

Prostaglandin E2 EP1 receptors: Downstream effectors of COX-2 neurotoxicity

Article Abstract:

The downstream effectors of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) neurotoxicity are identified. Study revealed the importance of prostaglandin E2 EP1 receptors for the neurotoxicity mediated by COX-2-derived prostaglandin E2.
