SIGN guidelines on managing urinary incontinence

Article Abstract:

The aim of the guideline provided by the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) is to identify opportunities in primary care for assessing and treating urinary incontinence, to offer primary care practitioner information and indicate the factors that should lead to an onward referral. The guideline is divided into eight treatment sections, which are discussed.

Lifestyle solutions for men with continence problems

Article Abstract:

The variety of continence products that are available for men with bladder and bowel problems will help them to have an improved quality of life. Male urinals, sheaths, body-worn urinals, disposable continence pads and reusable absorbent products are some of the products that can help people to overcome their continence problems and try to lead a normal life.

Coping with continence problems at work

Article Abstract:

The impact of continence problems on a person's ability to work is explored. It is suggested that a general awareness-raising initiative among employers, human resource professionals and occupational health staff is beneficial.
