Save lives and money: tighten your safety-belt program

Article Abstract:

Businesses can reduce workers' compensation costs and related profit losses by stepping up seat belt use enforcement and education programs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that about $56 billion per year is lost due to injuries. An 85% belt use by year 2000, as the agency's program envisions, would result in savings estimated at $6.7 billion. Some companies have very successful seat belt use programs and these companies can boast of records showing how many fatalities have been avoided.
