Scarred for life

Article Abstract:

Nurse Emily Lyons is heavily scarred, partially blind and suffers memory loss. Her injuries are the result of a bomb planted by anti-abortion campaigners at the New Woman All Women Health Clinic, Birmingham, Alabama. Lyons' name appeared on a list of abortion workers which is published on the Internet. It now appears in grey to show she has been injured. The name of someone who has been killed is crossed off. Lyons feels that the person who planted the bomb is a coward, and feels that the best course of action open to her is to publicize her injuries and her determination to keep working.

'Lunch-break' abortion service seeks to expand

Article Abstract:

Marie Stopes International is currently offering a rapid abortion service at six day centres in the UK. It now aims to expand this service, which has attracted considerable controversy. The centres aim to make abortion a safe, unintimatidating process, with women being totally in control of what happens. They allow women to have an abortion very quickly after they have decided to do so, which is regarded as a very important part of the service.
