Selective inactivation or reconstitution of adenosine A(sub 2A) receptors in bone marrow cells reveals their significant contribution to the development of ischemic brain injury

Article Abstract:

Inactivation of the adenosine A(sub 2A) receptor (A(sub 2A)R) consistently protects against ischemic brain injury and other neural insults but the relative contribution of A(sub 2A)Rs on peripheral inflammatory cells versus A(sub 2A)Rs expressed on neurons and glia is unknown. An experiment was conducted and the results revealed that the A2AR-stimulated cascade in BMDCs is an important modulator of ischemic brain injury.

Lung turns to AA (adenosine analogues) to dry out

Article Abstract:

This article explains the maintenance of fluid levels in the lungs where the epithelial cells maintain stability between the liquid and air, failing which, fluid enters the air sacs barring oxygen in entering the tissues. A nucleotide named adenosine is found to regulate the fluid levels by balancing fluid secretion and fluid absorption in the lungs.

Adenosine is crucial for deep brain stimulation-mediated attenuation of tremor

Article Abstract:

The significance of adenosine receptor A1 associated with deep brain stimulation (DBS) is discussed. The analysis shows that activation of the A1 receptor leads to the release of ATP and its product adenosine that highly improves the efficacy of DBS by suppressing tremors in humans.
