Article Abstract:

A women with previously undiagnosed cartinine palmitoyltranferase 1 deficiency experienced hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets-like syndrome late in her first pregnancy with an unaffected fetus. Cartinine palmitoyltranferase 1 deficiency should be considered as a potential cause of life-threatening complications of pregnancy.

Four-dimensional ultrasonography of a true knot of the umbilical cord

Article Abstract:

The prenatal diagnosis of a true knot of the umbilical cord using the 'hanging noose' sign is described. Four-dimensional ultrasonography and Doppler ultrasonography are performed to study and observe the changes in the tension of the knot that are related to fetal movements, which might cause sudden fetal death.

The impact of the changes in body-mass index (BMI) between pregnancies on the recurrent preterm birth (PTB) is examined. The results have shown that women whose BMI decreases between pregnancies are at increased risk for PTB, particularly if they delivered a prior preterm gestation.
