Sleep in late pregnancy predicts length of labor and type of delivery

Article Abstract:

The hypothesis that fatigue and sleep disturbance in late pregnancy are associated with labor duration and delivery type is tested. It is concluded that health care providers should prescribe 8 hours of bed time during pregnancy to assure adequate sleep and should include sleep quantity and quality in prenatal assessments as potential predictors of labor duration and delivery type.

Cost-effectiveness of herpes simplex virus type 2 serologic testing and antiviral therapy in pregnancy

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to determine whether serologic testing for herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) in pregnant women and their partners is cost-effective. It is concluded that compared with commonly accepted benchmarks for cost-effectiveness, type-specific HSV-2 serologic testing of pregnant women may be a cost-effective strategy.
