Standards of care in geriatric practice

Article Abstract:

This review outlines a comprehensive standards for caring older people undergoing treatment in geriatric medicine, nursing home residents, and palliative and hospice care. The guidelines are to help physicians overseeing such operaions and they encompass the standards used in the clinical practice in geriatric medicine and those from other organizations concerned with the care of elderly.

Molecular genetic risk screening

Article Abstract:

This review examines the applicability of molecular genetic screening on a larger scale such as population screening with respect to complexity of the gene mutations, multiple modes of inheritance, technical challenges, ethical and social issues. Research indicates that if performed early enough, genetic testing can diagnose and predict risk of future disease.

Genetic privacy

Article Abstract:

This review examines the concerns and fears of the general public wtih regard to the genetic testing. The common belief is that it invades privacy. However, research data point out that there is a disproportionate correlation between concerns about genetic privacy and actual instances of information misuse.
