Tackling substance misuse; illicit drug use is a continuing problem but there is much nurses can do to bring substance misuse into the health care mainstream

Article Abstract:

Nursing care of people with drug abuse problems is described. A nurses duties are to reduce the harmful effects of illegal drugs and to help a patient find help if they are ready to accept that they need treatment. Information about 8 commonly abused drugs and substances, including heroin, ecstasy, cannabis and solvents are described.
