The looming nurse recruitment crisis

Article Abstract:

The root problem of attracting new nurse recruits lies in the number of nurses leaving the profession thus leading to shortages in areas such as psychiatric nursing, theatre nursing, school nursing, district nursing, and health visiting.

Banning overseas nurses will come back to haunt the NHS

Article Abstract:

The UK government's new decision to curtail the recruitment of overseas nurses, on the grounds that the decision would allow newly qualified UK nurses to find jobs is a false positive. The government has failed to consider the fact that one generation of UK nurses are due to retire by 2010, thus creating another major nursing shortage.
