The baby blues club

Article Abstract:

A community psychiatric nurse has established the Baby Blues Club in London, England to provide support for women suffering from postnatal depression. The group provides an informal meeting mid week for mothers and babies. Each session is attended by a professional who offers advice and counselling. Most mothers feel they have not been realistically prepared for motherhood. They experience feelings of guilt and inadequacy. The CPN encourages mothers to recognise their own needs.

The illusion of progress

Article Abstract:

Britain's second review of mental health nursing, entitled Working in Partnership, reveals that little progress has been made in policy since the date of the first review's publication in 1968. The review ignores the abuse of human rights and is unwilling to confront other issues such as racism. The review team has failed to re-examine the role of mental health nurses in a modern society.
