The case of the hidden workplace hazards

Article Abstract:

Surveillance monitoring has always been an integral part of an industry's health-and-safety program. Surveillance programs include exposure monitoring of potential health hazards in a worker's environment. A number of companies have taken action to ensure worker's health and safety. Depending on the outcome of health reports and exams, workers may be given safety devices or modified working conditions. Workers, however, are responsible to follow-up any possible health problem identified on yearly medical exams.

Auditors team up for safety: safety-audit teams can put a stop to accidents

Article Abstract:

Audit teams are needed to assist safety departments of industrial plants in the identification of areas requiring safety improvement. Some companies still question the necessity of a safety-process audit but audits have proven to be effective for many companies. The audit team familiarizes itself with departmental organization, preparing checklists which are used to measure safety processes. Operating personnel also learn from the auditing, effectively improving their own safety programs for the plant.
