The charitable trust as a model for genomic biobanks

Article Abstract:

Tissue banks that store human tissue samples should be administered as a charitable trust. A charitable trust has ethical, legal, and scientific advantages over a private-sector tissue bank. Patients and consumers could sit on the board of trustees, which would allow public input into decisions about the donation, storage, and use of human tissue samples.
