Cholesterol rethink for high-risk patients

Article Abstract:

A study was done to understand the cause of reduced risk on patients for acute coronary syndrome with a median baseline LDL cholesterol of 106mg/dL by comparing pravastatin 40 mg with atorvastatin 80 mg daily. The results of the study indicated that atorvastatin or simvastatin should be used for patients at high risk from coronary artery disease and in some patient, a combination of a statin with a second lipid-lowering drug should be used to reach LDL concentration that are low.
