Leisure CD-ROMs

Article Abstract:

Data from the European Leisure Software Publishers Association and Chart Track Ltd indicate that the market volume and value of non-game CD-ROM market increased by 81% and 59%, respectively since 1996. The market for leisure CD-ROMs is divided into the education, reference and utility titles. The introduction of hydrid CD-ROMs, which have connections to an Internet website, represents an important innovation because they enable the programme to be kept-up-to-date after purchase. However, Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) is expected to gradually replace CD-ROM.

The chosen few

Article Abstract:

A knowledge of why and at what age people make career decisions aids nurse recruitment strategies. Studies have shown that nursing may be chosen at various ages. Young decisions to nurse were largely made independently. However, family and friends were influential in the 16+ age group. Older entrants may also have had unsatisfactory school experiences. Access courses or counselling may be appropriate recruitment strategies. Professionals should challenge misconceptions concerning male recruitment.
