Umbilical cord blood transplantation and banking

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to review the state of the art of pediatric and adult umbilical cord blood transplantation (UCBT) and important aspects of UCB banking. It was seen that the rapid availability, low risk of infectious disease transmission, and lack of risk for the donor, makes UCB an attractive source of hematopoietic stem cells for transplantation.
