The family history-more important than ever

Article Abstract:

Most diseases are the result of the interactions of multiple genes and environmental factors, and although these interactions are complex, every patient today has access to free, well-proven, personalized genomic tool and this valuable tool is the family history. The family history will remain highly relevant in the near future although advances arising form the Human Genome Project and related efforts are already adding important new genomic tools.

Welcome to the genomic era

Article Abstract:

Doctors are already applying knowledge gained from the complete sequencing of the human genome, which was announced on April 14, 2003. Gene expression can determine a cancer patient's prognosis or identify people with a high risk of specific diseases. Doctors can also identify the genes responsible for many hereditary diseases.
