Article Abstract:

The American Medical Assn's (AMA) Dept of Science News serves an integral part in the AMA's mission to educate the public and promote a healthy nation. The department sends out news releases about the association's weekly publication, JAMA, and develops a press packet that it distributes to approximately 2,500 science and health journalists worldwide. In addition, a video news release lasting 90 seconds is made available. The department also fields telephone requests for follow-up information and arranges interviews with article authors.
