The relationship of patients' perceptions of holistic nursing caring to satisfaction with nursing care

Article Abstract:

A relationship exists between patients' feeling that nurses care and their satisfaction with nursing care. The patient characteristics of age, gender and degree of pain influence their perceptions of nurse caring. A study including 94 hospitalized medical patients at two rural, southeastern US hospitals found the patients not to have a high degree of satisfaction with their nursing care. This result raises questions about communication and trust between nurse and patient. Holistic nurse caring is a significant factor in patient outcomes.

Patient satisfaction with nurse practitioner care in primary care

Article Abstract:

Patients report an overall satisfaction with nurse practitioner care. This finding of a study conducted at four primary care clinics of a government hospital in the south-central US is consistent with other studies. Nurse practitioners should use a holistic nursing focus in their work, advocating for the patients, communicating skillfully and not appearing to be rushing during patient care.
