The road less travelled

Article Abstract:

An argument suggest that tumour suppressor genes in inherited tumours are the result of a germline mutation in regulatory genes that suppressed tumorigenesis, followed by somatic loss of the homologous allele, and in non-heritable cancers both alleles would be affected in somatic cells. It confirms that tumour suppressors oppose the action of transforming genes.

Gene networks go global

Article Abstract:

The gene networks that are formed by combining large scale gene sequences and expression data for six evolutionary distant organisms provides a model for understanding the cell structure and design and offers a framework for gene annotation. All gene networks look similar but they exhibit differences in the behavior of individual gene groups.

Intrinsic tumour suppression

Article Abstract:

Mutations drive uncontrolled cell-cycle progression which are requisite events in tumorigenesis is studied. It is found that oncogenic mutations that disable the coordinated networks could have profound and varied effects on tumour evolution, leave intact latent tumour suppressive potential that could be tackled therapeutically.
