Measured and predicted resting metabolic rate in Italian males and females, aged 18-59 y

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the resting metabolic rate (RMR) of 193 healthy females and 127 healthy males, aged between 18- and 59-years, living in Italy. Predictive equations for RMR were also evaluated.

The validity of predicted body fat percentage from body mass index and from impedance in samples of five European populations

Article Abstract:

This article investigates the validity of a body fat and body mass index prediction model. Topics include x-ray absorptiometry, densitometry, and bioelectrical impedance.

Whole body and regional body composition analysis by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry in cirrhotic patients

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to compare the whole body and regional body composition of cirrhotic patients and healthy individuals. Fat Mass (FM), bone mineral content (BMC), fat-free mineral-free mass (FF-MFM), and bone mineral density (BMD) were measured by using the dual x-ray absorptiometry. Results show that cirrhotic patients have a significant reduction in percentage body fat and BMC as compared to healthy people. BMD is found to be significantly correlated to FF-MFM and physical activity index for cirrhotic people.
