This is what courage looks like

Article Abstract:

War hero Major Tammy Duckworth, an army helicopter pilot with the Illinois National Guard serving in Iraq who lost both her legs in an insurgent rocket attack and was conferred with the Purple Heart for her valor, describes her experiences in Iraq. With help and support from her husband, Bryan Bowlsbey, she is running for U.S. Congress from Illinois and wants to give back something to the people who helped her through her ordeal.

Kosovo's women: running for their lives

Article Abstract:

Albanian women in refugee camps share their stories about how ethnic cleansing in Kosovo destroyed their lives. These include one woman whose house was burned down, one who lost track of her husband while fleeing Serbs and another who escaped from Kosovo while eight months pregnant.

Many women and children toil in inhumane and illegal conditions in the US and abroad to produce clothing that enriches manufacturers. The Gap is among companies that make an extra effort to protect workers. Tips on avoiding buying goods made in sweatshops are given.
