Transforming Medicare

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Association drafted a plan to change Medicare which Congress must consider in the next term, since the part of the Medicare plan which covers hospital expenses will run out of funds in 2001. Budget cuts have been made repeatedly to no avail, so Congress should consider the AMA's plan, which focuses on personal responsibility. Medical savings accounts, less red tape and more individual choice are cornerstones of the AMA plan.
