Treading the boards - safely

Article Abstract:

Health and safety issues have a high priority in the UK's theatres. Accidents inevitably happen, but these are generally not attributable to management negligence. Performers are also aware of the need to take personal responsibility for their own safety, especially as shows become increasingly sophisticated. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art now encourages young performers, who may be tempted to take risks, to consider for themselves whether a particular activity is safe or not.
