Under new management

Article Abstract:

Teachers, school nurses and other concerned parties in Devon, UK, have cooperated to develop a strategy for managing childhood asthma as part of the Devon Schools Asthma Project (DSAP). Participants at Fremington County Primary School assessed the problem and developed the project further to produce a model of good practice for other schools which can also be adapted for children suffering from other conditions, such as epilepsy. An emergency procedure for handling attacks was installed at the school based on DSAP policy, with awareness of the condition raised among all pupils.

Before you flip that switch

Article Abstract:

The DOE plans to render the 52 tons of plutonium left over from the Cold War unusable for nuclear weapons by using them for commercial energy. The agency also wants commercial power plants to produce radioactive tritium for the country's remaining 10,000 nuclear weapons. DOE's plutonium plan will result in large quantities of radioactive waste and its tritium proposal will make consumers partners in nuclear weapon production.
