Uptake of hepatitis B virus into choriocarcinoma cells in the presence of proinflamatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-alpha

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to establish an in vitro experimental model that mimics the interaction of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the trophoblastic barrier. JAR cells can support HBV infection in the presence of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha. It is suggested that the vitro system provides key basis on further study reflecting mechanism of in vivo HBV intrauterine infection and transfer.

Preterm labor is induced by intraamniotic infusions of interleukin-1[beta] and tumor necrosis factor-[alpha] but not by interleukin-6 or interleukin-8 in a nonhuman primate model

Article Abstract:

The relative contributions of individual proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines to the triggering of preterm labor are determined. It is concluded that preterm labor was induced by intraamniotic infusions of interleukin-1(IL-1) [beta] and tumor necrosis factor-[alpha], but not by IL-6 or IL-8 although inflammatory changes in fetal membranes and lungs were uniformly present.

Interleukins-1, -4, -6, -10, tumor necrosis factor, transforming growth factor-beta, FAS, and mannose-binding protein C gene polymorphisms in Australian women: Risk of preterm birth

Article Abstract:

The relationship between preterm birth and 22 single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes that encode cytokines and mediators of apoptosis and host defense is examined. The results indicate that polymorphisms in immunoregulatory genes may influence susceptibility to preterm birth or premature rupture of membranes.
