Using fenestration technique: to treat a large dentigerous cyst

Article Abstract:

A simple surgical technique appears to be effective in treating children with dentigerous cysts. Surgeons drained the fluid from a dentigerous cyst in an 8-year-old child, removed the affected baby teeth, opened up a window to the cyst beneath these teeth, and inserted a drain tube. The patient flushed the drain tube twice daily with saline. Spacers were placed in the exposed teeth's spaces. Ten months after surgery there was evidence of new bone growth and healthy permanent tooth growth.

Combining reconstructive and regenerative therapies: a case report

Article Abstract:

The case of a 32-year-old woman illustrates that a combination of reconstructive and regenerative therapies can save a tooth that would otherwise be extracted. She had had surgery to correct a malocclusion, which injured one of her teeth, causing periodontitis and exposure of a previous root canal. Surgeons treated the root with tetracycline and then used glass ionomer cement, a bone graft and polytetrafluorethyline membrane to save the tooth.
