West Nile Virus: Epidemiology and clinical features of an emerging epidemic in the United States

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted on the epidemiology and clinical aspects of West Nile Virus (WNV) disease, which is one of the largest epidemics ever reported occurred in the United States in 2002 and 2003. Preventive measures like personal protection against mosquito bites, reduction of abundance of mosquito vectors, and screening the nation's blood supply for WNV nucleic acid, are taken at present.

"Sundowning" and other temporally associated agitation states in dementia patients

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted on the behavioral and neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia, whose symptoms pose a tremendous challenge to families and caregivers. It is seen that the sundowning behavior is correlated with other agitation states of the dementia patients, and understanding the complex relationships should lead to more effective therapies in the future.

Dementia: Delaying its onset, slowing its progression

Article Abstract:

Dementia is the loss of intellectual and social abilities that's severe enough to interfere with daily functioning affecting the ability to think, speak, reason, remember and move. The most common cause of dementia is Alzheimer's disease in which healthy brain tissue degenerates causing a steady decline in memory and mental abilities.
