Why is mental health care still in crisis?

Article Abstract:

More money was ploughed into mental health services with Labor coming into power since 1997 and hence, the government has tried to push such services up the agenda. However, reports suggest that there are no real improvements in mental health services. The amended Mental Health Act 2003, due to be launched in December 2006 will provide new opportunities for nurses, however it remains to be seen whether they would be realized.

Guard against conveyor-belt care

Article Abstract:

The Community Care Act of 2003 helps to assure that elderly British patients will get the right care and be moved out of hospitals beds when they no longer need acute care. The law fines the social services arm of the National Health Service for delays in finding placements that force patients to remain in the hospital.
