Will nurses gain PCT decision power?

Article Abstract:

Nurses will have an active role in their local NHS decision making after changes to the PCT planning committees are completed. PEC members can include nurses, GPs, pharmacists and social workers, with an aim to re-establish and reinvigorate PECs, giving clinicians from a multiprofessional background a greater say on local NHS decisions.

A change for the better?

Issues concerning the regulation and accountability of nurses and midwives are discussed. The duties and powers of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, to be in force from April 2002, include an emphasis on public involvement and conduct and competency rules.
