The discipline of management technology, based on considerations related to technology

Article Abstract:

Definitions of technology and management of technology have become significant objects of attention during the past 50 years. Management of technology has evolved into a separate relevant discipline as witnessed by the changes in industrial research and shifts in the political and social climates in firms. R&D management, innovation management, technology planning, and strategic management of technology are the four schools of thought which have emerged through the years. Each school advocates a different view regarding the scope, issues, and decision-making tools involved in technology management.
