Implementing the Montreal Protocol to restore the ozone layer

Article Abstract:

The worsening ozone depletion requires the decisive phase-out of ozone-depleting substances (ODSs). The Montreal Protocol schedules the phaseout of groups of ODSs and provides ODS control measures. The MP allowed developing nations a 10 year grace period on the phaseout, but many have taken effective action and reduced ODS mainly because of the lower costs involved than those originally anticipated. Nevertheless, additional financial incentives and technical assistance to developing nations would accelerate response to the phaseout.

Your are not alone: beware of what you say on the Internet

Article Abstract:

Internet users should take certain steps before sending e-mail or downloading information. When sending messages, for instance, users should first consider whether they would be willing send the same message on paper. Before taking and using information, they must determine whether they would feel as free to do this if the information came from a book or newspaper. E-mail messages about individuals should also be treated the same as a spoken message while only first hand information should be shared to a discussion group.
