Puerto Rican New Yorkers 1990

Article Abstract:

The New York City Planning Commission's 'Report: Puerto Ricans in New York, 1990' offers statistics on the current status of Puerto Ricans living in the city of New York, NY. The report reflects the successes and failures of the Puerto Rican people in the city. The emigration of white Europeans from New York, NY, has caused a new segregation and left Puerto Ricans to bear the inner city's burdens. Puerto Ricans now comprise only one-half of the city's Hispanic community. Additionally, the city's economic conditions has made it difficult for Puerto Ricans to achieve upward mobility.
