A prokaryotic phytochrome
Article Abstract:
A phytochrome gene encoding product in Synechocystis cyanobacterium was investigated by expression-cloning in Escherichia coli using the vector pQE12. Results revealed a functional prokaryotic phytochrome with phycocyanobilin binding ability, spectrophotometric absorbance findings and isosbestic points similar to that of plant phytochrome-phycocyanobilin compounds.
