Sen. Olympia Jean Bouchles Snowe was born on Feb. 21, 1947 in Augusta, ME, to Greek immigrants George John Bouchles and Georgia Goranites. Snowe graduated with a B.A. degree in political science from the University of Maine and began her political career as state legislator in 1973.
