A history of the Grinnell Hawaiian missionaries

Article Abstract:

In the early 1900s, George W. Grinnell announced that he had found rare 'missionaries' which he sold for more than $50,000. Later they were deemed false and Grinnell lost the law suit. In the 1940s the stamps were again offered and bought. Again the counterfeit story nullified the sale.
