A review of the Polk first day ceremony
Article Abstract:
A stamp to honor the 200th anniversary of the birth of Polk was issued Dec 2, 1995 in Tennessee where he was raised. Highlights in the career of Polk which led to the presidency, are recounted. He is the only president who was also Speaker of the House. The first day of issue ceremony is described.

A review of the Fulbright first day ceremony
Article Abstract:
The first day ceremonies were held in Fayettville, AR, at the Univ of Arkansas campus. Fulbright had served as president of the school. The scholarships were established in 1946 under the Fulbright Act. The first day ceremony is described.

Florida statehood stamp first day ceremony
Article Abstract:
On Mar 3, 1995 the sesquicentennial of Florida's statehood was marked with the issuing of a commemorative postage stamp. The stamp and the ceremony is described. This was the first commemorative stamp issued in 1995 by the US Post Office.
