Black Hills national monuments

Article Abstract:

Mt Rushmore National Monument in the Black Hills of South Dakota was designed by Gutzon Borglum. Construction started in 1927 and completed in 1941. Sculpting the four presidents' heads out of a granite mountain was dangerous and arduous work. Stamps commemorating Mt Rushmore are presented.

The story of the birth of the Conestoga wagon

Article Abstract:

The Conestoga wagon was originally built to transport freight when new US settlers came from the East to the West in the mid 1800s. The wagons hadwaterproof covers and large load capacity. Conestoga wagons are depicted on several US stamps, including a 1988 3-cent transportation stamp.
