Can ISO 800 Print Films Do Everything?

Article Abstract:

The development of Kodak Gold Max 800 and Fuji Superia X-tra 800 ISO, 35mm color films offers amateur photographers excellent high-speed films with excellent color rendition, and equal grain and sharpness as that found with their manufacturers' ISO 400 films. Both 800-speed films, however, have limited quality in prints with underexposures of three stops. The Kodak Gold Max 800 has more vibrant colors with higher contrast than the Fuji Superia X-tra. The Kodak Ektapress PJ800 and Fuji NHG II professional films have more grain, but sharpness and contrast are better than found in the 800-speed amateur films. How the films were tested is described.

Films of choice: which color films do pros prefer - and why?

Article Abstract:

Color film is selected based upon the quality of its emulsion. Many professionals now prefer Kodak's Ektachrome X as a replacement for Kodachrome slide film. Fuji's Velvia also enjoy substantial popularity for its color saturation.

Gold vs. Royal Gold

Article Abstract:

A comparison of the Kodak Gold Max and Royal Gold 1000 films indicated that Max produces consistently superior results. Other new Gold films also outperformed their Royal Gold counterparts.
