About 30 cachets were provided for the first day covers for the 140th anniversary issue of the commemorative stamp. Some of the celebrations held at the university are described as well as some of the first day covers. Feb 22, 1995 was the first day of issue.

Light for human rights theme of cover

Chinese artist Ting Shao Kuang's original painting, 'Light for Human Rights,' will be used as the first day cover for the fifth and final set of United Nations stamps commemorating the Jun 11, 1993, 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights' stamp issue.

10-cent Official Mail Stamp added

The US Postal Service will issue a 10-cent stamp that is part of the Official Mail Stamp series on Oct 19, 1993. No ceremony will take place, but collectors can get first day issue postmarked envelopes from the post office up to 90 days later.
