Criteria for selecting stamp subjects

Article Abstract:

The US Postal Service is in partnership with the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee in the selection of commemoration subjects on US stamps and stationery. The set of criteria currently in use was first formulated in conjunction with the postal reorganization in the early 1970s.

Postal artifacts stamps mark museum opening

Four 29 cent stamps with scenes from American history will be issued at the new National Postal Museum, part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, on July 30, 1993.

Dinosaurs, stamps and era of the distant past

Article Abstract:

The US Postal Service issued stamps in Oct 1989 that picture the tyrannosaurus, pteranodon, stegosaurus and brontosaurus dinosaurs. The interest in dinosaurs is examined.
